About the Podcast

Two lads from Merseyside talking about the stuff that matters

We explore mental health, resilience, and lived experience.

What is Minds on the Mersey?

Minds on the Mersey started with a simple idea: that men don't talk enough about how they're really feeling, and that needs to change. We wanted to create a space where those conversations could happen — not in a clinical way, but the way you'd talk to your mates.

Every episode we sit down and get into it. Mental health, life, relationships, work, grief, identity — the full picture. Sometimes it's heavy. Sometimes it's hilarious. Always it's honest.

We're based in Liverpool and proud of it. The city shapes everything about how we talk and who we talk to. If you’re from Merseyside, you’ll feel it straight away. And if you’re not, you’re still part of the conversation — you’re welcome here.

Meet The Lads

Sam Roberts
Host

Sam is the heart of Minds on the Mersey. Open, warm, and never afraid to go first when the conversation gets real. He's been through his own battles and uses the podcast as a way to make sure no one else has to go through theirs alone.

Richie Whelan
Co-Host

Richie brings the energy, the laughs, and the occasional football rant. But underneath the banter is someone who genuinely cares — about the show, about the listeners, and about making mental health feel less like a taboo and more like a Tuesday conversation.

Honesty over polish

We don't script it. We don't edit out the awkward pauses or the moments where we don't have the answer. Real talk only.

No one left behind

Whether you're struggling right now or just curious, this podcast is for you. We don't gatekeep mental health conversations.

Laughter is medicine

We take mental health seriously. We don't always take ourselves seriously. Both things can be true.
